Default Tire Pressure

Just wondered if anyone has noticed that their Bridgestone S02 seem to consistently keep its air pressure? I have never seen a tire that consistently keeps the psi within +or - half a pound. Most of the time it stays at 32 psi even with temperature changes. Anyone else notice this?

This defies the laws of nature. With a morning pressure reading (cold), I get 35 psi. This is with SO2s, Goodyear Eagles, Kumhos. By the end of the day after driving the car around, I'll get readings anywhere from 38 to 42 psi.
Also, as we transition into winter, I have to pump more air into the tires as the ambient air temps decrease. Similarly, as we transition into spring and summer, I have to let some air out to maintain the morning cold temp reading of 35 psi.
Maybe you should try a different tire pressure gauge.

Ok I meant that I check the tire pressure in the garage before a drive and that compared to my other vehicles it never needs adjusting .What I meant about temp changes that if it is hot out or slightly cool that this car stays mostly the same while my other tires vary a lot more . I find it odd that these things hold their pressure so well !

I see, I think. You mean to say that these tires seem to have a good seal and the valves don't leak.

Exactly! I have 4 other vehicles and none of them comes close to these tires! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Car is stored during winter with more than normal psi and tires are put on carpet mats to keep from flat spotting- But from April thru November they seem to never ever lose any air!

Consider yourself lucky. With my OEM rims and tires, I always had at least one tire that lost a bit of air over time, sometimes a couple of tires. The other two were rock solid. Now, with my new Volks and Kumhos, they seem to hold very well.
I think it depends on how well the tires were mounted, how much the bead held up to the mounting, the condition and quality of the valves and how the valves seal at the rim.

xviper -

I'm running the Supra 712 and it looks like I will get 15-18K out of the rears and have been pleasantly surprised with the performance, especially in the rain.

I didn't know at the time I bought them about the size issues with non-oem tires. I've got 205/55 fronts and 225/50 rears on the stock wheels and wouldn't have known it might be a problem had I not read about it here. It seems to me that the car is neutral to maybe a touch of oversteer but I thought that's how the car is supposed to feel.

I hope your set performs as well as mine. I'll probably go with these tires again when the time comes.

I'm quite pleased with my 712s. Mind you, I'm running 17" rims and I have 225 front and 255 rear. You should run 205 and 245 in the proper aspect ratio to approximate the driving characterists build into the car.

I too, am pleased with the wet handling of these tires and I'm hoping that they will last as well as yours. Mine are in their first season. I find they don't grip as well as the OEM tires, but the break away is much more predictable and I love being able to power side through a corner. Next up is to see if they will have a little light snow capability, although I do also have snow tires ready to go.
