Tire Problems... can anyone help?
Hi there, I am in a bit of a sticky situation and was hoping you could help me out. I recently (dec 15th) replaced my stock s02's with the bridgestone S03 Pole Positions... Unfortunatly I, and the tire shop, did not know at that time that if the tires were replaced with anything other than the OEM tires that you had to move into a 245/45/16. so I just asked "What options do I have in replacing the rears" they sold me the s03 pp in 225/50/16's.
see this thread if you havent read the tire size notice:

Anyways, after only putting about 8000kms of WINTER driving (Wet) My tires are already at the warning marks. These tires were not abused AT ALL. The first set of stocks lasted 24,500 kms and now I switch to a tire that supposedly has better treadwear and they are done in less than 5 months???
I dont know if this has something to do with the incorrect tire size, or a problem with the tire or what, but either way the tire shop said bridestone wont cover the tires under warranty. I then asked for a # for the regional office which they politely gave to me.
What can I do here? This is absolutely crazy... I spent $750 Canadian on 2 tires and now I have to shell out another 750 to replace them?? Im 22 and dont have 750 to give away every 5 months.
Can anyone offer a suggestion? Thanks in advance
Matt.

Sorry to hear of your predicament. I can only suggest trying to talk directly with the "head office" boys and see where you get. The trouble in your situation is that you have 2 strikes against you right off the bat. You have a "hot car" and you are young. It will be very difficult for you to convince them that you did not "drive" the rubber right off the car as it is assumed that most "kids" do. Although this is not really any help to you, I sympathize. Go give it your best shot see what happens. In any case, thanks for the warning about the SO3's. Good luck!
The tires are both evenly worn... I also check my tire pressure VERY regularly and they are set at 38psi. The max says 44, and when they were installed they were all set to 35psi. My digital Camera isnt here at the moment, otherwise I would take some pics for you. 38psi is ok to run right?
38 is a little high, but if the tread looks to be worn evenly, overinflation wouldn't be a factor. If it were, the tread would be worn more in the middle. Perhaps it was simply just a matter of not having enough rubber in the back w/ the 225's. I'd say it's your tire shop's fault.
Thanks for your help speeeding, ill see where I can get with the tire shop. They have offered to replace the tires at their cost so I believe they are trying their best... but bridgestone is ultimatly who calls the shots warranty wise.
