Tire question
I have the Bridgestone S03s on my car now 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. The rears are shot, but the fronts look great, so I am just replacing the rears. I was looking at the RE01R (trying to find a new set that someone has on hand) or RE070s, figuring all three would be a similar tire. However, I just noticed that the S03s have a 220 treadwear, which I am sure is more than the RE01Rs or the RE070s. My concern is that going with a softer tire in the back the car may tend to understeer now. Is there are reason for concern or am I looking at the right tires for replacement???
I swapped front tires from OE RE050s to Dunlop D1 Star Specs (very similar to RE01R / RE070). The car oversteered like crazy until I got the rears to match.
I'd bet you'll have a similar experience, but understeer is a lot less fun.

You'll be good, I had Bridgestones with meat left on them up front when I bought it, and needed to replace the rears, so I went with Yokohoma Advans in the back. It was a good deal. Then I bought matching ones later on. Don't worry about mixing front and rear, just keep side to side the same.
it doesn't matter if theyre the rears are different from the fronts. if you get stickier front tires, it will probably oversteer more and understeer with stickier rears... it really depends on what you want and your driving style. or you can get some tires that are similar all around and it will feel more neutral.

Honestly, no choice of tire or mixed tire types is going to make the car do anything as far as oversteer or understeer - as long as you drive within the limits of the tire with the least grip. It's only when you start pushing the limits and exceeding available grip that it will bite you.
