Default Tire Ratings

There have been some recent advancements in tire technology (e.g., self-inflating tires & new compounds). After browsing previous threads it might be interesting to poll everyone about their current recommendations based upon actual experience. So, here's the question, "With all things considered (i.e., cost, availability, appearance, performance...) what's your favorite set of tires?" To balance different climates, it would be good to break them down into basic categories; summer, all season, etc.

To kick things off, here are mine:

Summer - Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2

All Season - Goodyear Eagle F1

Track - Yokohama ADVAN A048 (shaved)

Winter - No experience with

My 2001 S2000 has 115K miles, most of which were with the stock S02 (honda version of course), but once I tried a cheaper tire and the handling was SO wacky I went right back and got the S02s.

I'd love to get a cheaper tire that would last longer, and yet still have some sharpness in cornering. I don't care much about massive traction if it simply has good cornering feel.

I'd love to hear recommendations in this thread!

Hankook RS2. Cheap and good grip. Tread life is about 10,000 miles.

For autocross we prefer the Kumho V710 over the Hoosiers. They give more warning before they break loose and they last twice as long. (100 - 120 runs vs. 50 - 60 runs.)

I like the Bridgestone RE750, previously have used s02s and s03s, and for my driving (ie, non-track), I could barely tell a difference.

Plus the RE750s last WAAAAAY longer than s02s/s03s. RE750s have been replaced by RE760s.

I rock the S02's and like them. I'll eventually get some nice wheels and when I do, they'll be wrapped in RE-11's.

I was a major fan of the toyo t1-rs on my old car, but went for the falken 452's full set ... 225/50/16 and 205/45/16 ... they are pretty good, haven't taken them to the limit yet...so overall pretty good!!

I would like to know how those Re-11's are compared to the Re-01's? Looking into my next set being either Re-11's or the Re070's...Rears are getting slim.

One suggestion for those responding. Please tell us exactly what sizes F&R you're running. In particular this is because of the 225 vs. 245 rear size issue on the honda S02 vs all the others. Thanks!

And if you want to add more detail about grip and cornering sharpness details that would be helpful too.
