It seems like most folks are running 17" wheels (I'm guessing that's the wheel-size that came with your cars). I still run the orig 16" rims from the 2001 model.

From what I understand, if I go non-oem, I need a 245 width tire because the honda S02 is really about 245mm even though it says 225.

Are folks getting tight responsive cornering with 16" non-oem tires, and if so are you running 245 rears or 225?

For a balance of handling and tire life I would look at the Sumitomo HTRZ III.

You do NOT "need" 245/45-16 rear tires for the AP1.

In fact, if you insist on that size you are eliminating the BEST tires from consideration.

Long/short: Ignore the stickie...

FWIW, I've tracked on 225F/245R, 205F/225R, and 205F/245R. The differences in balance and overall grip are not as great as you might think. I fared about the same (~1.5 seconds faster) vs. a consistent reference car/driver (former club championship winning 350Z) on each of those tire combinations.

Getting the RIGHT tire for your usage is more important than whether it's a 225 or 245.

BTW, shouldn't this be in the wheel/tire forum?

yokohama s-drives: affordable, very good summer grip, wearing just fine, excellent for my daily driver.

i run falken ziex 912 225/50-16 all around on my CR. treadlife should be in the neighborhood of 25~30k, they work well in the dry, wet and cold conditions (ie light snow) and they are stupid cheap. good enough for a street tire.
