Those are an OK choice, but they won't last 3x as long as the S02's, maybe 1.5x as long, with significantly less performance.

Bridgestone RE-750 is a good compromise, reasonable dry and wet traction at reasonable price that can lasted 25-30k miles. Fuzion ZRi is another option.

After a couple hours of searching I think I'm going to go with the RE-750's, they seems to fit my criteria the closest...

is this the ideal size of tire to go with on AP1 wheels?

225/50/16
245/45/16

If you go with these sizes you will have more over-steer compares with OEM S02 sizes. If you go with 205/55-16 front and 245/45-16 rear, you will have less over-steer.

Check out Hankook RS-2's. Can get them in correct AP1 sizes (245/45 rear) and they're cheap as heck. Not sure the kind of mileage you can expect, but in the autocross world, they've proven to have great traction and be better in the rain than the "best" street tire class tire, the Falken Azenis.

CaptainMike and TR-S2K are correct in every way. It just depends on what you want out of a tire. I have the RE-750's in 205f/245r on AP-1 rims. My impressions are:

Less total grip than SO-2's.

Better wear than the SO-2's; but nothing lasts a long time on this car.

Much greater water evacuation than SO-2's, but not an all season tire. Do not use in snow.

Using 205f/245r with tire dials in some understeer. Slightly greater rear width and slightly narrower front width compared to stock.

All that being said, ultimate grip is reduced. but the car is still well balanced.

A good daily driver for moderate climates. I like them.
