Default Tire Rub?

I have a 2007 S2K which I bought in May 2010. After reading many post on replacing the stock 215/245 tires with 225/255 and how there is no clearence/rub issues, I went ahead and did just that with the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's. Very nice tires so far....much more quiet than stock. After driving on them through a 300 mile break in period, I went out on a fun drive where I heard( or I think im hearing) some tire rub with sort of a pulse feeling in the apex part of the curve. The other thing I cahnged at the time of installation was the alingment from stock to a more of aggressive street set up, but not as agressive as track or autocross. With factoring in my weight of 170 lbs and a discussion on where and how I plan to drive the car, they used the following settings:

Front
caster
L 7.0
R 7.2
camber
L&R -1.0
toe
L&R 1/32" total toe 1/16"

Rear
camber
L&R -1.3
toe
L&R 1/16" total toe 5/32'

Thrust Angle 0.0

Could my tires really be rubbing? Any thoughts on this and the alignment set-up?

Thanks, Patrick

Is your car lowered?? Stock wheels?? I would be really surprised if you are rubbing with those alignment settings and tires. I run Hankook RS-3's in the same size and am lowered on Eibach springs and I don't rub. I choose to run settings that are more aggressive than what yours are since I do track events. I am no expert but I think your alignment specs seem ok for an "aggressive street" setup and should get you some decent tire life.

I highly doubt it's tire rub. The CR comes with 255's on the rear. And going from 215 to 225 on the front is nothing; there's no way an OEM would design that tight of a tolerance where that little of a change would create a rub.

There was a particular on-camber ramp I've taken and managed to scrap the air strake... I think at least!

Thanks for the replies. They are stock rims with 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 and the suspension is stock.

Out driving yesterday, I did notice the that my VSA engaged on a straight acceleration and is engaging more frequently with my new tires......any thoughts on that? i dont feel that im pushing any harder.
