Default tire size for ap1

tire rack says the original equipment is 205 fronts and 225 rears. Would another size be better for the track on the stock ap1 rims? Also if i mess with the size is it going to throw off my spedo can i fix that easily?

I already have a set of all seasons for the winter im looking into buying another set of ap1 rims for cheap and then high performance summers tires for the track and summer.

You're supposed to get 245/45 for the rears, if you use non OEM tires.

when i bought the car it had 225 kumho asx on the rear and 205 on the front. The rears were almost slicks so i just bought another set of them. I have tested with a gps and the speed on the speedo is exactly the same.

Stock tires on an AP1 are labeled as 225 but Honda had Bridgestone engineer them wider. Going by the measurement of tread width......the correct none OEM tire size for the rear is 245. Speak to Jim at Tire Rack.

Shouldnt the smaller tire throw off my speedo then? If so could the previous owner have fixed it and put the smaller tires on the rear.

Die stickie die!

If you want maximum performance for the street and track for the stock AP1 wheels, you'll be getting 205/55-16 fronts and 225/50-16 rears.

Insist on 245/45-16 rears and you're not going to be on the best-performing tires (Bridgestone RE01R or Dunlop Sport Z1 Star Spec), they only come in stock AP1 sizes.

IMO the stickie greatly overstates the "need" for 245's anyway.

225/50-16 rears are fine.
