Default Tire sizes on 17x8 Work Emotions

Hey whats up everyone
I am running 17x8 Work Emotion CR's on the rear of my 01 and as of now I am running a 245/40-14 and wanted know if I would have issues if I went to a slightly wider tire. I am running Kumho Ecsta MX's right now and and it is time to replace and want a slightly wider tire. Maybe a 255/40-17, just wanted to know If that tire size is too wide for a 17x8" wheels and is the height will change much due to both being a 40 series but going wider, if so will this screw up my speedo!!!!

Thanks in advance for the help, INFO ASAP would be great because I am ordering tires in the next few days.

Also I will take recommendations as to what other tire sizes and brands would work for about the same price

17x8 Emos, you can technically only run a 245 at its widest. 255 is a little to big for the 8" but it is do-able but not recommended. 245-40-17

it is recommended to run a 245/40 in the rear or else your ABS might be thrown off a bit.
