Default tire sizes

my dad has a 98 e36 m3 he bought new wheels so im thinking about taking his tires off of his oem wheels and putting them on my car since my front has a screw in it. they're michelin pilot sports 225/4017 and 245/4017 rear. i have an ap2 with the factory wheels and tires 215/45 and 245/40s. i heard it effects handling but how much? and is the michelin's better than the stockers? thanks in advance

The tires on the M3 are actually 225/45R17 and 245/40R17. They will fit the car fine but the handling will not be as good. I can't put a number on how much it would be affected but the Bridgestone tires will handle better. If you OE tires are worn it would not be a bad move to make.
