Default Tire suggestion for stock AP2

I have RE-11 on my stock 2007 and the rears are almost to the wear bars. I am trying to figure out what to do for a replacement. I used to autocross when I picked up the RE-11 but now I just daily drive in summer. Live in MN so can only drive the car half the year. According to Discount Tire's website they still has some RE71R in stock. Not sure if I should go that route or change to a 300 treadwear tire like the PS4S or the new Potenza Sport.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. UHP-Summer tire, 340 AA rating, great reviews and.....very reasonably priced.

I've had BF Goodrich G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S PLUS on the last 2 S2ks that I've owned. Reasonable price, decent ride, low noise, good wear rating, good reviews at TireRack. And they're available in plus 10mm sizes for 17 inch S2k wheels. Currently running 225s vs 215s in front and 255s vs 245s in rear (CR spec).

Whatever you decide on do it quickly as your tires may be aged-out regardless of tread depth. RE11A was discontinued circa 2015.

There is that nice warm fuzzy feeling driving Extreme Performance summer tires but I'm not convinced it has any real benefit for normal driving. My Bridgestone S04 tires are coming up for replacement and they're also discontinued! (Like my former RE11A.) I'm tending to look more at wet performance for general driving.

i got RE-71R a month or so ago on clearance (255/40/17 all around) and it's pretty good. i like them better than the hankook RS4's they replaced but i have't really pushed the RE-71R so far. i would imagine anything in the class would be comparable. next set will probably be back to Dunlop since i enjoyed the star specs and z2 star specs so much.

I faced that decision a number of years ago when the RE050s were wearing down.
I wanted a tire that would drive very similarly to the 50s so I went with the Potenza S04s.
Glad I did.

I'm surprised there wasn't a Bridgestone tire in the mix ????
