Default Tires...

For those of you that have owned or know anything about these two, which do you recommend (or is there another tire which is better) for OEM rims (other than S02 - jesus these things run out of rubber quick)?

Kumho ECSTA MX

or

Yokohama AVS ES100

Kumho ECSTA MX is very old design, Yokohama AVS ES100 is not as good as Kumho ECSTA SPT according to Tirerack test results.
My next set of tires will be Kumho ECSTA SPT

Kumho SPT: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...Model=ECSTA+SPT

Much like the ES100, but slightly better in performance. ES100s have a softer ride and are quieter, but do not handle heat well. In other words, they're only a good choice if you don't do any autox or track driving with them.

MXes are good tires. Have you also considered the Fuzion ZRi and Hankook RS2 Z212?

The MX is a better handling tire than the other tires mentioned. They will not be as good in the wet and they will not last as long but if you are looking for performance for a good price they are very good.
If I can help let me know.

Jim, what about the Trythe Fuzion ZRi. I have never heard of those. I looked through tirerack last night, and ther are alot of options. I also looked at the most popular list and saw what people were getting. Behind the S02 and S03, those two were next. The only thing I don't like about the MX is the sidewall pattern.. looks terrible.

For daily commute and for not too aggressive driver like myself, SPT is better for reasons: last longer, less noise, cost less ...

If you are aggressive driver and track your car once in a while, then MX may be a better tire for you.
