Tires and Sizing
I originally had Tein S-Tech's on AP2 shocks with the following
17x8 +35 w/ 215/45
17x9 +38 w/ 255/40
Both front and rear rubbed on bumps/dips/etc. I raised the car back to stock using the AP2 springs and now only the rear rubs once in awhile on big dips.
I need get new tires and would like to give myself a bit more room AND would kind of like to go 225 in the front. I also plan on getting either PSS9 or KWV3 and lowering to around 1.5 finger gap.
I'm considering either the Dunlop Direzza Star Specs, Hankook Ventius V12 evo, or Hankook RS3.
It seems there are good reviews for both the Star Specs and the V12 evos but my concern is sizing.
Would 225/40/17 work for the front and 255/35/17 for the rear and give me a bit more room?
The 'cliffs' are:
- have 215/45/17 and 255/40/17
- was lowered on S-Techs and rubbed all around on dips/bumps/etc
- went back to stock and only rub in rear on big dips/bumps/etc
- need new tires (looking at Dunlop Direzza Star Spec, Hankook Ventius V12, and Hankook RS3)
- want to know sizing to give a bit more room (225/40/17 and 255/35/17?)
- will be lowering car in near future to ~1.5 finger gap and don't want to rub!

<-- 255/40/17s, 17x9 +63, 12.75" from fender lip to wheel center (~1 finger gap)

Sure, now you just have to convince a tire manufacturer to make those sizes. Your wheel offsets are the cause of the rubbing. With higher offsets you can stuff wider tires and have minimal rubbing at low ride heights.

but I love the look and will be running a larger degree of camber when the time comes around as well as a mild roll on the rear quarter panels. In regards to the sizing I was really just tossing numbers out there - and sure enough, no tires in those sizes
