Tires for stock ap1 rims
#11
I have the Hankook RS2 Z212's in 205/50-16 F, 245/45-16 R on 16x7, 16x8 wheels.
Great street tires, great track tires (for street tires, that is...), short money.
If you are serious about getting the best autoX times on your street tires, I'd get Bridgestone RE01R's, though.

Yea, I can't find the RE01R. I've found the re050 though and they seem decent.
You must not be looking too hard! Didja try the link (Tire Rack) at the top of this page?
They have RE01R's in AP1 sizes. For max dry grip street tires, IMO they're your best bet. For max wet/dry street tires, RE050A Pole Position. For best wet/dry grip at reasonable $$$ (plus wider 245 rears), Hankook RS2 Z212's.
There are other options as well of course...

Honestly...if you are going to autox & DD, you should upgrade to 17" rims so you can get some decent tires. All of the available 16" tires are compromises in some way or another.
If you can swing it, there are several 17" wheel alternatives with correct offsets that are about the same weight as the ap1 rim (Volk CE28n, SSR Type-C, TRMotorsports).
If you need to go cheap...look for some ap2 rims. They are significantly heavier though in the rear. Heavy enough to be noticable when accelerating.

If you're going to upgrade to 17s in a couple months and just need something to get by till then...the Hankook RS2 is a decent choice. Very inexpensive and is a good alternative to the S02.
Personally, I would recommend going with the 205/55-16 front and 245/45-16 rear unless you have a larger front swaybar.
