You wont notice any difference in a straight line.

S03s are a way better competitive tire. S03s have better ultimate dry grip, better wet grip can take a lot more abuse on the track and autoX. The T1-S is a more comfortable street tire, is less noisy, no tramlining, much softer sidewalls and a little lighter too.

S03s if you compete in autoX/HPDE
T1-S if you keep it on the street

Having run both the S-03 and the T1-S, I prefer the T1-S hands down.

I am running the stock 16" rims on a 2002.

I do not autocross. I do open track. I do live in windy costal California road country. I do drive fast at all times.

Based on these usage parameters, my Toyos have outlasted the S-03s that preceded them (11k miles on the S-03s; already 14k on the Toyos and approximately 4-5k left). Likewise the Toyos are far quieter. On foggy, misty, broken, coastal roads in the wee morning hours, the Toyos stick better than the S-03s to the pavement. On the track, with proper inflation, I generally am able to do better times with the Toyos than I did with the S-03s. Not hugely better mind you (say on average 1.5 second better laps at Thunderhill in norcal), but consistently better by a small margin.

Based on my experience, I would recommend the T1-S's over the S-03s for anything but autocross.

The T1S has been discontinued and has been replaced by the New T1R....it looks like a T1S but the tread edges are beefier and the tire has much improved dry handling. It's available in Europe and other outside the US locations right now. US stock of the T1S needs to dry up before the tire comes here, probably next Spring.

I am in 100% agreement. I have them on my Evo and they've been phenomenal, even after the Advan A-046s.

Blue...I say use'em! If you don't want to...SEND ME A SET!!!!!!!!

j/k...I will be getting some wheels soon and I will be putting Toyo T1s on the car. A guy had 18" O.Z.'s with T1s at an Atlanta autox in the novice group and was makin' some low times. Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the info, I hadn't heard the T1-S were being replaced. I like the T1-S and the T1-R sound better.

The T1-S is a decent tire but doesn't have the grip of the S-03. It is more resistant to abuse though, I find the S-03s get greasier faster (this is on track use)

for pure street use, the s-03 starts out quieter and then gets much louder as they pass the 50% wear mark.

If I remember correctly, you get one set of tires a year from Toyo? They'll last you a year. For regular driving and the occasional aggressive jaunts, T1-S's are fine. I would not, however, say they are better than S-03's for dry and cornering.

I just did my first autocross on my street setup, T1-S's(225/245), Gendron adj swaybar, and mild alignment(UK). We played with the air pressure, but could not get hooked up. I ran NA. This is just one person's experience. The good part is the T1-S's are so severely rounded on the edge that you can slam the car and rarely rub with "normal aggressive" driving.
