Default What are these rims?

Hi,

I found these rims (left behind by my son) and have no idea what they are, whether they will fit my S, etc. (Son can't remember - ??!?!?? -or doesn't want to tell me - long story)

The only info I can find on them is as follows:

Center of rim has a cap that says Excel Ennio.

Inside the rim it has stamped the following numbers and letters:

H8-032
17X7JJ
690KG

They came off a 2001 Prelude.

Any idea what the lug pattern would be on these and if they will fit the S2000? I have MY2001.

Does 17X7JJ mean they are 17" rims? What does the 7JJ mean.

I don't want to mess up the differential on the S by putting the wrong size rims on, so any info anyone can provide would be great.

Jeff

1. Photos would be your friend

2. If the wheels came off a 2001 Prelude (FWD), they are most likely ALL the same size. You probably don't want to put non-staggered wheels on your car. While in "theory" you could make up some of the difference with staggered tires, it's like using a screwdriver to hammer a nail home: You could... but why?

3. Yes, 17x7JJ means the wheels are 17" in diameter, 7" wide, and has a "JJ" section. I think the JJ section refers to the shape of the wheel underneath the tire, and as far as I know, most Honda wheels (aftermarket and otherwise) are JJ.

4. FYI, I believe the bolt pattern for the Prelude is the same as the S2000 (5x114.3), so physically they would probably bolt up to the car. However, the offsets are most likely not ideal. AFAIK, FWD Hondas use lower offsets (usually due to the narrower wheels) than the S2k does. Look on the inner rim for a sticker that says the size (17x7). Somewhere on that sticker should be the offset, for instance "+42". A +42 offset (which would be my random guess...) would be too low to run on our cars, although I guess it wouldn't really matter if the wheel is only 7" wide.

5. Bottom line: Don't do it. Tell your son to clean out his junk, or sell 'em on eBay

I have to say that I love the breath of knowledge that people bring to S2Ki.com

Thank you.

I_Heart - Thanks for the excellent response. After I posted, I re-read (and this time had it sink in to my pea brain) the writeup on wheels and offsets and all the other stuff most people don't know about wheels and tires and came to the conclusion that while the bolt patter is the same, the offset is what is going to make these not fit the S2000. So, your writeup is right on the money. Thanks for taking the time to post such an in depth response.

As for selling them on ebay, I think I will, once I determine the offset. I didn't see any stickers with the size on them, but I'll check all the other wheels and hopefully it will be there. If not, I'm hoping a tire store can determine the offset for me.

And yes, all four wheels are the same size. That was also in the back of my mind as to whether they would work on the S, since the S has different sizes.

And Matt in VA - I agree whole heartedly on your reply. This site is really amazing.

Now if I can just figure out why I'm no longer a gold member here. I used to be, but now I get listed as guest. I think my membership expired and I never got a notice to renew.

Thanks again everyone.

They are correct on the wheels not fitting correctly. They will also not have the correct center bore so you would end up with a vibration.
