Default Wheel Fitment

ive read the wheel and tire sticky several times and between looking into wheels and tires i cannot for the life of me find a wheel and tire combo that fits without "Stance" or without breaking the bank.
ive looked into a lot of wheels and very few have offsets that accd to the sticky will fit.
so heres my questions.

1. whats the widest tires front and rear that could be put on say a 17x8/17x9 or 10 combo thats close to stock height?
2. if i go 18's i know it opens fitment doors but tire sizing comes into play as anything bigger then 17' will hurt performance?
3. Good tire what wont break the bank that will last and do the occasional Auto-X.

ive looked over the past week and all its done is honestly made me frustrated with trying to find wheels i like in the correct fitment.

Car is a 2007 AP2 on Ksports lowered about 2.25 ish all around and as of now its sitting on XXR531 17x9 35et on 215/45/17 nexens.
fenders rolled gently, fronts tucked in, no rear bumper tab mod yet.

215's on 9 inch wide wheels. Yeah thats not good. Also nexans are complete junk tires I had them on my civic and never again especially on a car like the S2000.

As for you questions
1. For an 8 the widest I would do is a 245 and thats a little pooched on an 8. On a 9 I would stick to 255. On a 10 you can do a 265 but tire options are limited.
2. Wheel diameter has nothing to do with fitment (well if you want 22's they it is an issue). Width and offset dictate fitment. It also will not hurt performance as long as you have proper size tires with the proper sidewall to keep the rolling diameter the same. So for a 18x8 and 18x9 setups you would want 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 to account for the 18 inch wheel to keep the rolling diameter correct.
3. Z2, RS3, RE11, would be the best choices and are all around $150-170 a tire.

The car looks sweet in the pic. Looks like what you got going on is working. I been compelled to tweak on rims and tires as well. I could see me spending money on tires, wheels, suspension, alignment and fender roll just to get it set up right.

Idk not sure if its gonna be worth it..

Thanks for the replys.
So Manga, what offset should I look into for a 18x8/9 setup to be near flush with the fenders?
Also is the direzza Dz102 a good choice?

And bliss thanks for the compliment!

+40 to 45 for offset to be able to fit correctly sized tires on it. As for the Dz102 I have never run them. They won't be competitive in autox but I am sure they would be fine for it once in a while. Once you start getting faster though they will be what holds you back and you will want Z2's, RS3's or some other extreme performance tire.

Gotcha. Thanks for the advice.
So 40 to 45 offset. 40 would be pushing it to the fender or would there still be a hint of clearance?

Depends on the width and tire chosen. +40 will have less clearance all around but it is doable. You may want to run one tire size down like a 215 in front and 245 in the rear.

If you go 18's then the cost of tires increase significantly... so if you're budget conscious then you might want to stick with 17's.
