Default Wheel Help, what to do?

I just picked up an 03 s2000 last week and all 4 tires are shot so I decided to buy wheels and tires together.

Some people tell me to stick with a staggered set up because of various reasons, design, safety ......

what is your opinion?

the car is completely stock including suspension...

I have a set of Motegi SP10's 18x8 +42 with 245/40/18's.... from my old car but I dunno if they will fit plus I heard 18's will make an s2000 look like a monster truck... especially with factory suspension.

If the Motegi's don't work (doubt they will) I'm going to sell them and I would like to buy a nice deep dish bronze wheel.

thanx in advance for any helpful reply's.

should I stick with a staggered set up 17x8 front and 17x9 rear or should I go with a square set up?

sorry, i'm sure this has been discussed 1000 times but it's easier to make a thread.

thank you

If you're new to this, stick with the next sizes.
205F+255R
215F+245R
215F+255R
18" look ok as long as the sidewall is correct. The thing is that 17" are lighter and on our cars every bit helps.
Also read this: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/342...fitment-guide/ - it will give you a better idea why your 18" wheels will not fit with the oem staggered tire sizes.

245/40-18 are a full inch taller than the stock sizes. With +42 offset, you'd almost certainly be rubbing, particularly up front.
You could probably use those wheels if you went with stock AP2 tire widths and diameters, which would be these sizes:
215/40-18 front, 245/35-18 rear.
Both those sizes fit on 8" wide wheels.

Thank you both for the suggestions.

If I were to use my current wheels, the motegi's with the ap2 sizes suggested would I have to use spacers in the front or rear or not at all. I would also assume the ap2 sizes would be a little bit of a stretch on those wheels?

Thank you guys.

Also, if I buy new wheels and tires what would be the widest I could go with a factory suspension?

17x8 in front and 17x9 in rear or what?

Yeah your issue with those wheels is the tires on them. I think you would be ok if you just rolled your fenders because they are super aggressive but again the tire is to tall. I'd sell those and look for 17's that are a better fit.

For the width question you can go very wide it just depends on the offset. The wider the wheel the higher the offset needs to be to fit like OEM. 17x8 and 17x9 is a very common set up and as long as you stick to the +45 or higher you will just need a fender roll. If you don't want to roll fenders you need close to OEM offsets which is in the +60 range and severely limits your wheel choices.

Hit up GT motoring or evasive or one of the other vendors on here. Enkei offers a lot of great wheels choices in a very wide range of offsets.

yeah, 18x8 +42 all around is not ideal. you could make it work if you needed to but i'd much rather have some wheels that are in the size and offset i really wanted. you'll be much happier in the end with proper fitment.

again, thank you guys for the info and help.

I'm having a hard time finding wheels I like in staggered form...

I'm looking for 17x9 for the rear and 17x8 for the front...

here are a few wheels I like but don't have the wheel sizes I want that match or offset I need as to not have to roll my fenders...

sorry for all the links...

those are not the exact wheels I'd like to get but more like the type and style of wheel i'd like to get for my grey s2k...
I'd perfer bronze with a deep dish or just a nice 10 spoke but again I can't seem to find any of the wheels I like in the size I like.
Now that you guys see what kinda wheel I like would any of you be able to send me in the right direction?

17x8 and 17x9 offset +48 and higher I think... whatever fits factory suspension... bronze>gunmetal>black.....

thanx and sorry again for the long post and stupid question.

edit: there are some wheels on ebay from XXR that look pretty good but I've owned a set of XXR 006's and they were horrid... the lip was rolled on and it dented so easily...

I know the quality of the XXR's are better now then they have been but I dunno about taking a chance on those cheap wheels again...

I'm in the process of trying to sell my 18x8 +42 Motegi SP10's , tires mounted with 90% tread for a G....

once I sell them I'd be ok with 800 to 1200 for wheels....

I've been thinking about it for days and I'm in need of 4 new tires and a wheel alignment so that's why I'd rather buy 4 proper sized wheels and tires. No thank you on the AP1 wheels...

basically i'm just asking where some of you guys buy your wheels and could you post some links.
I'm sick of trying google and getting the same places over again.

anyway, any info would help, I have time.... going to Brazil Jan 1st for 2 weeks so mid Jan I'll be making a choice.
Maybe even one of my links?

I think i found my wheel...

17x8 and 17x9 both +45 offset

will this fit on my AP1 factory suspension/fender/quarters

what would be the widest, lowest profile tire I can use?

if you guys confirm that will work with no fender roll/pull of VERY minor then this thread was a success.

Thanx again!
