Default Wheel locks for stock AP2 wheels?

I recently bought a 2007 LBP S2000 and had the stock wheels powdercoated white. Anyhow, the stock chrome lugs aren't exactly the look I'm going for. I'd like a set of black lugs for the wheels. The problem is the stock wheels have a ball seat and 98% of aftermarket lugs have a different kind of seat (cone, etc). The very few sets with a ball seat have the "stock" chrome finish.

In short, it's really hard to find any colored lugs for the stock wheels. Well, after a long hard search I've finally found some and I'm ready to buy. I could either buy a complete set of 20 lugs, or buy a set of 16 lugs and buy locks separately.

The problem in buying the locks was the same problem in buying the lugs - only now the problem is two fold. It's again very difficult to find *black* ball seat locking lugs for the stock wheels. I have a set of black, locking lugs, but they are a cone seat and don't match the lugs I'm looking to buy. I could use them, but would prefer not to.

What I would prefer to do is just bypass the locks entirely. Is this really a horrible idea? They are stock, cast, wheels and aren't worth a ton of money. I live in a big city (Atlanta), but park behind my house and have never had a problem with vandalism or theft before.

Is theft of stock wheels really a big problem? Thoughts?

Seat theft seems to be more common than theft of stock wheels. Not sure if you're aware, but you can buy OEM ball-seated black lugs/locks that Honda fits to the CR. I have them on my AP2v2s and love them. HTG sells them, although the locks are especially expensive. Chrome lugs have no character.

I bought a set of OEM wheel locks the day I bought my car. Ordered the seat locks within the first week or so (I had to wait until they came back in stock.) Buying both is a no brainer to me.

These are the lugs I'm looking at: http://www.jlbmotorsports.com/store/produc...products_id=617 . They are a fair amount cheaper than the CR lugs and should get the job done nicely.

Any links to the OEM black wheel locks?

I don't have wheel locks and it worries me on occasion. It's nice to have the extra security

Depends on where you live and where you park at night. I've had my S for 7 years. Never had locking lugs. The car is parked overnight in my garage though, and I'm in a low risk town.

Hmm... given that the CR locking lugs are $70, I think I'm going to pass on the locks and take my chances.

i'm pretty sure replacement wheels cost more than the $60 it costs to buy a set of black lugnuts. If you want the oem, they are $34
