Default Wheel Spacer

Some friends of mine owned VW and they use spacers for their rear tires. They said it handles better and look nicer too. Just wondering if anyone have any input or experience of using spacer for the front/rear and what size? Thanks.

I don't think anyone can give you a clear answer to this question skunk-man .

Are you talking about stock wheels? If so, '04+ or 00 - 03?

Hub spacers are often used to size various wheels to the car. If you're more specific, more people may respond. Also, check the wheel and tire forum.

People generally use spacers to clear bigger brake calipers or to "push" the wheels out more. If it's option one, it's really not much of a choice, but if it's option 2, it's a compromise of budget to now buy the correct offset of wheels. Whether if it's an improvement to handling, is only up to one's intepretion.

Nothing wrong with the OEM setup/layout. Look for other options to improve handling instead of this.

I have done this on my MR2. I actually bought wheels to fit an S and spaced them out for the two. Planning ahead here. I also use these spacers on the track with my stock wheels. Can't really notice a handling difference. I think the wheels spaced out look a little better though. When ppl buy aftermarket wheels for the S they have a smaller offset which effectively spaces them out more. You can add spacers to obtain the min offset that people use on the S (46 I think). If you go with larger than 3mm spacers you will need to replace your wheel studs with bigger ones. You can also get really big spacers that bolt on and have their own studs.

Final word. I wouldn't waste my time / money on this.

I run spacers in the rear (5mm) to clear a big brake kit. Had to install longer studs, which was pita. We sell a ton of the for the Mustang, VW`s, etc. Not too many Honda kits though. I think the stock setup is fine, I`d only use spacers if I had to...
