Default Wheel spacers correcting offset?

I wanted to get some advice/2nd opinions on wheel spacers. I am looking forward to buying some wheels and my problem is that the wheels come at a +30 offset. The sales person told me that the wheels will come with a 1/4" spacer and it will correct the off sets. Is this true? If you have used spacers or know how they work, please share your thoughts

I am gravitated to the HP R5 18x8 F 18x9 R 225/255 mm

All comments and suggestions are very welcome..

Thanks in advance...

KT

That salesperson doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.
If you start with a +30mm offset rim and put on a 1/4" spacer, you will then have a rim with a +23mm offset. You're going the WRONG way.
Let's say the salesmen was some sort of mad scientist from the future and was able to invent a spacer that could occupy "n-dimensional, fruit looped, tripled folded space" and actually did contribute to adding + offset, a 1/4" spacer would only give you 6.35mm more (or +36.35mm). Alas, I digress, so I'll stick to my original statement: That salesperson doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

the only way to fix the offset of a wheel like that is to shave off some of the wheel hub - and that's not a very good idea.

yeah, xviper is right.

someone needs to shoot this wheel guy.

this is like "wheelsnext" when i ad my shop i used to buy my cheap wheels wholesale off them, when a wheel didnt fit properly theyd shave it w/o telling the customer..

VERY unsafe imo.
