Default Wheel Spacers and a Noob in need of help

Hey Everyone,

My name is Tyler and this is going to be my first post ever for this forum. My 2004 S2000 is my first car and I am in love with it. I am reaching out to the community to see if you can help a young noob out so that I don't hurt my baby.

As the first thing I am doing to my S2K, I have bought Spoon front fenders to fit OEM lines, as well as Rear Fender Flares from Shine Auto Projects. The pieces have just arrived today and I am so stoked! The pieces I've purchased are shown here:

Now, the fun stuff.
I would love to put them on right at this moment, but I need to make everything sit flush. That being said, I have no idea what to buy. Everyone is saying to run wheel spacers, but is it safe? I have never tracked my car, but would like to prepare for it sometime in 2017, so I need something that I can trust for track and everyday use. Are there any wheel spacer brands or types that I could trust to not break or damage other parts of my car? I am still rolling with the normal 215F/ 245R tire size. I would like to run something larger for both front and rear because of the extra space I'm adding to each side. Do you guys recommend any specific tire sizes and wheel match ups that would also fit with the wheel spacers?

Again, I don't know much about this topic and I am very new to modifications at all on a car. I know that's a lot of info, so if any clarification is needed on my part, let me know. So let me know what you guys think. All feedback is very much appreciated! Thanks guys!

First off I moved this to the wheel and tire forum since thats where it should be.

Second are all the body parts shine? Are the front fenders actual spoon fenders or are they also shine? Did you test fit them? Did you already have them painted? You realize for the rear overfenders to be functional you have to cut your quarter panels?

Third you are going to need some serious spacers to push the OEM wheels out enough to fill those fenders. I mean people run 25mm spacer to get the wheels flush with the OEM fenders. Your fenders add another 25mm of clearance.

Honestly you need to do a lot more learning about what you are about to do before you dive in.

Sorry, didn't mean to put it in the wrong thread. Thank you for moving it! Both are Shine products, and are both able to fit factory lines. I am taking an automotive paint class as of this September that will give me full use of a Professional Automotive paint booth and instructor to make sure everything is painted correctly as well as in case any sort of work needs to be done to make fitment flush on the body for both pieces. And I am aware that I will need to cut the quarter panels. The same auto body class and instructors will help me , or refer me to a good shop to have it done correctly.

I just got them today but have work very soon so I haven't been able to test fit just yet. I am going to be test fitting as of Wednesday. I am in no rush to get these done and my wheels and tires perfected any time soon. So I am just looking for info and recommendations on how to approach the topics.

Thanks for the info about the 25 mm spacers. I had no idea people already used huge wheel spacers like that just for OEM fenders and Wheels. So it seems like OEM wheels are out of the question (which is no problem).

For wide body kits such as these, what are some setups that are usually ran? Are we talking 245s in the front (which I know can be done on stock fenders and wheels already)? Or even larger? SO in the end are we talking a larger aftermarket wheel with 10-15 mm spacers?

Thanks so much for the speedy reply Manga! I know I have a lot to learn but we all have to learn somewhere

This is a good thread to look at for wheel setups.

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/842...fender-thread/

I run downforce front fenders and ASM rear overfenders on my car. Currently I have 17x10 +35 all around with 255/40/17 Advan AD09r's . The rear has plenty of room but the front is tight. I usually run 17x9 + 43 with a 245/40/17 in front as my usual setup. The 17x10 squared is more show oriented but either way I barely drive the car and when I do I am careful. Good luck with your build.

The correct answer is to wait until your fenders are installed and then purchase wheels that fit. Spacers are meant to fine tune things or for when you can't get the perfect offset.
