Re11a on sale at Costco w/$70 rebate, less than $700 installed. The Michelin A/S 3 is a great all season if you want that otherwise the pilot Super sport is the nicest riding and a long wearing tire for your type of driving and come in stock sizing.

What is 'wrong' with the oem s02 is they are just such an old design now. Tire tech evolves quickly and these tires can't compete with the newer stuff. Newer designs are stickier better wear.

The s02 is more expensive than these newer, better designs.

In the AP1 sizes there are not as many options. There are better tires than the S02 now for handling. I like the RE11 and the new Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec. The Pilot AS3 is a very good handling all season tire and like you mention they are going to last longer.
