Default Wider tires vs. Steering response

Hello,

I recently replaced my stock wheels with a set of aftermarket wheels.
The specs. on the tires are F:225|45|17 & R:255|40|17.
Does increased tire width change the feel of steering wheel? In my case the wheel feel heavier.

You're used to a 205 tread up front. You've now increased this by 20mm. That's almost an inch more. You now have a bigger contact patch to turn against the pavement, so it should feel slightly like more effort is needed. If it wasn't for power steering, you'd really feel a difference.

PS. Moving to Tire/Wheel forum.
