Default Will these tires work with my wheels?

I'm currently running

225/40/18 on the front
255/35/18 on the rear

Obviously I have 18inch wheels and it has width of

7.5 inches on the front
9.5 inches on the rear

I really wanted to try out the BF goodrich g-Force T/A kd
They make the specfication of (225/40/18) for my fronts but they don't have the right specification for my rears. So I thought I might just increase the tire width just a bit and go with their 265/35/18 for the rear. Will this be a problem?

If your current set up works, then the 265s will stick out another 5mm. You are the best judge of this.

if you're lowered, you might want to put offsets into this equation. If you're rubbing even a slight bit right now, needless to say you'll rub even more with 265. Depending on your definition of 'problem', upping the size may or may not be an issue.

Yea.. I thought of that. I probably will have to raise my car a little. My 255 doesn't rub at all under normal condition. But it does scape slightly when going over uneven dips in high speed (like highway where the asphalt joins bridge). I think if I just adjust the height just a little bit I think it'll work. I'm more concerned about rather or not the tire will actually mount on the wheel without any future problems.

A 255 tire easily and commonly get mounted on a 9" rim. A 265 on a 9.5" rim is no problem.

Older Vettes used to run 275s on 9.5" rims.
