Default Will this work?

I found some wheels that I like alot. They are 18x7.5 47offset and 18x8.5 49offset. Ther tire offered in the package are 225*40 and255*35. How will the wheels look and how low could I go if I wanted to lower my car?

18x8.5 +49mm with 255/35/18 won't allow you to lower too much without rubbing.

Actually it depends on which tire you got. Different tires brands or makes will be wider even if they are the same size.

What tire are you goign to pick?

I used to have TE37's....18x8.5 +50mm.
I have my car lowered to about a tight 2 finger gap in rear with the comptech coil overs.

I rubbed quite often with 255/35/18 yokohama ES100...but not with toyo T1-S 255/35/18's.
The T1-S have a more narrow tread width. I would have rubbed on 255/45/18 S03's and S02's.

If you are going to lower the car...I 100% recommend some adjustable spring hieght coil overs...or full blown coilovers so you can adjust for the right height.

Unicorn is correct. You could also roll the fender lips to give a little more room. Then you can look at a tire with less section width and more clearance. Another trick is to run more negative camber.
If I can help let me know.
Thak you

The rear rim is only 8" wide. Will that work a little better?

The Tire Rack site recommends that you use at least 8.5 for a 255/35/18 tire.

I see alot of people on the board that use 255/35/18 on a 18x8 wheel though, but I am not recommending it though.

I say you should get at least an 18x8.5 in rear, with at least +50mm.
