Default Winter Tires for S2000

Do the winter tires have to be the same size as the summer ones (rear tires slightly larger than front)?

Will 15" 205's all around be suitable winter tires for the S2000?

evolution,

I have no experience with snow...but you would think a wider tire in rear with alot of tread is the way to go.

Because the wheels are also different sizes front and rear I would recommend to stay with the OE sizes for the snows.
We have Dunlop, Michelin and Bridgestone available for the car.
If I can help with the specific tire let me know.
Thank you

By all means, if you find a 15" wheel which fits our car, i'd be interested!

You REALLY WANT thinner fronts than rear. Otherwise put 80 octane in your tank or pull a spark plug, because you'll be oversteering like a monster in the snow. Better yet - don't drive in the snow.

Buy a beater civic for what you would pay for new wheels/tires for the S.

I used OE sizes for the snows on my S2000 last year. The car performed fine, I would recommend it.

15" may not clear the calipers but if they do, you should keep the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo the same as stock, especially in the rear so you don't affect the speedo. I use the OEM sizes on mine. "Winter Slaloms" on the fronts, "Blizzaks" on the rears. They say you should go 1 size narrower for snows but I have no problems with mine.
As far as severe oversteering, this is a myth, a typical fear and assumption of those who have little or no daily driving experience in snow. Like driving in rain or off road driving, driving in snow is a learned skill as is defensive driving in snow. What, you thought you could drive this thing the same way you would in summer? In Calgary, people drive Porsches, Mercedes, BMWs, NSXs all through Winter. Hell, I've even driven a Corvette C4 all winter. The S2000 is the most fun winter car I've ever driven next to my old Stealth TT.

Any suggestions on snow tires for the stock 16" wheels ?
Tire rack has no application on their web site.

I did a lot of research last year prior to purchasing snows for my car. I ended up with Blizzaks MZ01, I believe you will find it is the tire of choice on the board. That said, I am sure someone else will pipe in soon. The Blizzaks were the #1 selling winter tire in Germany last year, so that should say something. I did the OE setup with winter tires and added 15 lbs in the trunk. Using commonsense the car handled fine. Oh, I did buy some rims to put them on, kinda expensive but saves on the chances of your good rims getting screwed.

Don't know if this is helpful, but the conventional wisdom used to be to go one size smaller (say 215 instead of 225) in section width with snow tires. Snow tires have gotten so much better in the last few years, I'm not sure if this applies anymore.

We do have snow tires for the car and I would recommend the OE sizes. We do also have a couple wheels available for the car for the snow packages starting at 139.00 per wheel.
The snows are available in Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli.

By the way there are no 15" wheels to clear the brakes and there are no good sizes to go narrower with.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you
