Of course they are different. Unfortuntely we have not had an opportunity to test them yet. I would guess we will before it starts to get colder. If I can help let me know.

I'm more curious about these...for a street tire, not for use on the track, obviously.

The tread pattern looks a lot like the old Star Spec, but the compound must be different. My only concern is the tread width seems to be incredibly narrow for the size, compared to others.

Those are the replacements for the DZ101. This tire fits in the same performance category as the BFG G Force Sport Comp 2 and Hankook Evo V12.
I can't give any review on these as I have not driven on them yet, but I have driven on the DZ101 along with the other 2. I would rank them
BFG > Dunlop > Hankook
Knowing Dunlop and how they consistently improve on tires, I would bet the DZ102 now leads the pack.

The Hankook EVO V12 are in the max performance category, which is a step above the DZ101/2 and BFG G Force Sport Comp 2 (UHP summer category).

And as far as BFG>Dunlop>Hankook, that does not seem to hold up too well in the extreme performance category. In fact on the track, I think the Hankook R-S3 has arguably been the best tire in the extreme performance category.

I think he's talking about the Hankook V12's....the RS-3's are obviously >> than all those other tires listed.

I understand the the 102 is a replacement for the 101...but the tread pattern looks more aggressive...like the old star spec. It could be a good street tire. But like I said, the advertised tread width of the 102 is suspiciously narrower than other tires in the same category. I'm running 225/255 S. drive tires on my street wheels, and they look a little narrow to me...the DZ102's are even narrower

I purchased the Z 102's this past Monday (215/255) and ran them at Mosport DDT on Tuesday at the 6th Gear Event. Guesstimating that I did 60-70 laps on them throughout the day and they held up pretty well. They are replacing the Hankook Ventus V12's which I found gripped better but the Z102 treadware is 460 now compared to the Z101 which I believe was 300.

We will be doing a tire test with the Z2 Star Spec before the weather changes. I do have some info that I will post on the new tire. If I can help let me know.

Based on the lap time chart on the tech1 page from Dunlop, the Direzza ZII Star Spec starts with a significant advantage and maintains at least a subtle advantage in lap times in the long run compared to the Direzza ZII. The information is in Japanese so this is the best I have right now.
