Jim@tirerack- the specs on your site have the ZII Star Spec listed as 8.5" tread width on a 255/40/17, but the ZII listed as 10" on the same size. Is that a typo, or did they change the sizing of their tires?

That has to be incorrect. I will check. I did get a chance to drive them in the wet today againt the RS3 V2 and they were both good in heavy rain on the street. The Dunlop was the noisiest tire in the test. The Rival and the Yokohama are in the test as well and I though these two were a little better in the wet. None of them were objectionable in the rain. I should get a chance to drive on the track later this week.

According to this infographic, looks like a 1% improvement in track time and slightly softer compound which retains heat better than the ZII.

The Rival was better than the ZII Star Spec in the wet? I heard the Rival was not very good in the rain.

Got mine installed Thursday;255/40/17 tread is 10 inches wide.

Would like to know the answer to this as well. Friend at work just wrecked his v8 Miata that was on ZII's (not star specs) in the rain when he shifted gears cruising on the highway. I'm interested in the Star Specs and Rivals for my next purchase.

Im thinking thats not the tires fault. Probably more to do with the v8 stuffed in a Miata, and driving on wet roads without the proper driving considerations

Doubtful if you're saying he was being careless. Being that we live in FL, rain is a daily part of our lives whether we want it to be or not. We've lost a few S2ks here too do to rain, myself almost included. Reason I'm hesitant to buy RS3's again.

I can think of few vehicles less desirable to drive in the rain than a V8 Miata on EP Summer tires. That's just an accident waiting to happen.
