Hey guys, just took a big financial hit but I'll be needing to buy new tires for my S2000. Was originally going to jump on a set of hankooks, but seeing as how I can save myself a few hundred dollars, I'm looking at various Federal and Maxxis Tires. Can anybody give me their .02 about the following tires? Please keep in mind these will likely be very temporary tires so treadlife isn't a massive concern, although the longer they last, the better (obviously).

Maxxis Victra
Federal 595
Federal 595Evo
Federal 595RPM
Federal 595RS-R

There are a couple different grades of Maxxis Victra tires. I had the higher performing grade (the MA-Z1) on the front of my car when I first bought and I was pleasantly surprised with them. They were responsive, had decent turn in, and gripped better than the worn RE050 tires I had in back. Since I was just buying my S, I had nothing to gauge that off of, but for aggressive street driving I was happy with them.

I run the federal 595 ss tire. Great street tire esp for the money. I like them as much as the v12's I had before and they are cheaper.

595ss all the way... cant beat it for the money. the 595ss and 595 evo can be compared to hankook v12, yokohama s drive, sumitomo htrz3. The 595 RSR would not be a great choice for you as it is more of an aggressive street / track focused tire that competes in the same category as RS3, Z1SS, RE-11, AD08, NT05.

awesome. thanks guys. What's the difference between the Evo and SS? I would guess price but i don't know otherwise

I know the evo is a newer tire compared to the 595ss but Im not exactly sure if its supposed to be a newer version or a completely different tire within the product line. For daily driving duties I would just save the money and go with the regular 595ss

Sorry I mean the hankook evo v12. I can never find the federal evo tire. Federal a evo and hankoooks look very similar though.

The ss is a solid tire for the money but its a street tire. If you are looking for more grip go with the federal rsr or the hankook rs3. Just know wet traction sucks.

For a budget tire the federal 595 is a really good choice for an all around balanced handling, wet and dry grip tire. I consider it a "max" summer tire with wear rating at 240, so its sticky but not going to have quite the dry adhesion as the Extreme comp tires that fall into the 140-200 range, but its going to cooperate better in year around weather.
