I love my country - but facts are facts, we are nowhere near the best at controlling crime and poverty.

To the OP: do some research, America leads the way in violent crime, rape and murder worldwide.

just a question, would that be because in america almost all crime is reported and recorded onto permanent record verses underdeveloped countries that have corupt government, no ecomomy, no police, no "911" and child molestation is a way of life? are you saying that there is more violence and crime in america then there is in an african country in a civil war? a country where violence and crime is all they know. a country where a 7 year old kid carries the assault riffle he pried off his father's dead hands?

i am the "OP" and i did no research because i only passed along a message.

Ok well do research before you read much into your original post. Maybe it would change your outlook.

i too was talking about "civilized" 1st world countries. If you look at the crime, rape and murder rates per 1000 people in the developed world, the US is WAY ahead. Im not slamming you, just stating fact.

i guess only a few actually read the post and even fewer actually understood the message the speaker was trying to make.

ok fine, if you want cliff notes, here it is.... no matter the crime rate in this country, the fact is that crime does happen. be it one in a billion or one in ten it can, will and does happen. you (law enforcement officers) are entrusted to protect those that are inevitably victoms of those crimes, therefore, you MUST be prepared. no matter where you are you have to be ready to defend those that you swore to serve and protect.

That is a pretty good message, I agree with that.

I definitely did not read the post. I'm someone who's posted long things on internet forums before. It helps to space it out properly, and break it into readable chunks. Form it into paragraphs with spaces inbetween. If there are paragraphs that are too long, break it up yourself.

It also helps to break it up into several posts rather than it being one long post. It gives the illusion that it's shorter than it really is.
