Okay I made a little system here for Ya, very fast too. The only thing that its missing is keyboard/speakers, Im wasnt sure if You need those.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual core

ASUS A8N5X ATX AMD Motherboard

GeIL Value 2GB (2 x 1GB)

eVGA Geforce 7800GT 256mb

10000rpm Raptor 74GB

Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Sound Card

Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W Power Supply

DVD/CD drive

COOLER MASTER Silver Case

I would rather go with this motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136166
but this would go over Your limit, asus is a great mobo too

My limit isn't set in stone, so I would go with the better motherboard.

So should I just order the stuff? Also, is that video card going to have any trouble with a 24 inch LCD?

I like your list, the only thing I'm going to need is a firewire card for my external HD.

what kind of resolutions are You using? What kind of games?
You might want to move up to ATI 1900xtx, that card is amazing it has performance of 2 x 7800gt in SLI,
DFI is not really a better mobo, it just gives You a lot more overclocking options.

The resolution would be 1920X1200

It's not going to be a dedicated gaming machine, I need to use it for everything. So I guess I might be better off saving some cash on the cheaper motherboard and going for a better video card.

then this would be my pick:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102671

the cost would be around $1700 then.
