F1 Race Report from 9.9
Wow, that might have been the single most boring event in motorsports since... well since the last time there was a NAStyCAR race.
Alonzo shot off from the poll and lead the race for the entire time. Masa retired from the race. Then everyone else just seemed to go into autopilot so as to not take any risks.
I didn't realize Kimi had passed Hamilton in the pits for second until Lewis passed Kimi on track in the final few laps. Actually, the TV announcers were pretty surprised too. They didn't realise it and the producers only cut to it at the last second almost missing the pass completely.
Most of the race was spent talking about the new curbs and how they affected the cars. It was mildly interesting for the first 20 mins, but after an hour about the curbs, I was bored out of my mind.
Alonzo
Hamilton
Kimi
Made up the podium. This was the first time McLaren has had a 1-2 finish in Monza. There was a Ferrari on the podium, but it was the weakest of moral victories.
This must have been Ferrari's way of giving back the 15 points McLaren lost in Hungary.
Alonzo cut Hamilton's lead to just 3 points in the driver's championship. With just 4 races remaining on the schedule. The battle between the defending, two-time world champion, and some rookie for the World Driver's Champion is not just heating up, but it's on FIRE!
The next race is Spa (yes, as in Spa Yellow) in Belgium, next weekend (9/16)

Not very entertaining at all, but there wasn't anything else on TV.

I was just happy Honda didn't completely suck...they still sucked, but Button officially doubled Honda's points.
Hamilton's pass on Kimi was pretty ballsy. I like how they cut to the Ferrari pit crew, looking down in disappointment, then they cut to the McLaren pit crew laughing.

I heard $100mil fine on the radio today. Anything else?
AND ALL OF THERE CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS! I MEAN EVERY SINGLE ONE!
I thought it'd only be from a couple of races or something but they took em all!
And think about it the New England Patriots got caught essentially doing the same type of cheating and were fined a total of 250k from the team and 500k from the coach. And were stripped of draft picks. Thats chump change compared to a 100mil and every single championship point.
Kind of shows the amount of money involved in formula 1 compared to the US's top sport.
