No, portillo's is OK, but go to Ed Debevick's instead.
Check out http://www.heavenonseven.com for awesome Cajun food. Make SURE you get the gumbo with your entree.
Also Uno's is good, but Geno's is the best, and is the more well known destination for "first timers to Chicago.

with ed debevicks. But IMO, Lou Malnati's is the best but that's only if you like that thick crust pizza.
Restaurants I recommend:
1. Sal & Carvao (2 locations, one in downtown near the Prada store and the other one in a heights, I believe)
2. Macaroni Grill in Hoffman Estates
3. Cheesecake Factory
4. Japonais
5. Fat Willy's in Chicago (western and ashland, by the amc movie theaters) AWESOME FOOD!

ed debevic's? really? i went there a few times when i was a kid, but aside from the novelty aspect i don't remember it being anything special. sal e carvao/fogo de chao are awesome...but pricey as well. like, min. $50/person.

s flock around north ave and they're abundant after midnight.
