Hey Paul. Aside from Thinking I was going to be smart and wearing a neoprene shirt, it went well. The shirt almost killed me (heart rate was at 195 for about 90 min. Spiking to 198 per my heart rate monitor)...... But once I took it off it was much better.

I finished top 5% of the 10,000 people that did it, so I got an invite to the worlds toughest mudder.

I also hate running - that will be my last CO tough mudder- it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I had friends do the Wi one this past weekend who I didn't think could run 2 miles, but they survived! So all on all tough mudder is a great event so long as u don't do CO lol

Well as long as you are able to properly acclimate to altitude, you would be fine. Altitude can have a HUGE impact on performance. At 10k feet above sea level, you are breathing 1/3 less oxygen than you do here in the midwest.

I will be getting into planning a kayaking trip soon. Hope you can join!

I want to go on a kayaking trip! keep me posted on the info! Funny you say 1/3 less.... it was odd how when my HR was settled in at about 160-170 i felt like i was going to die...i just wasnt getting enough oxygen...crazy what altitude will do.

Chris i am using a Polar rs200. Its an older model that is probably discontinued by now.. my buddy has a new polar F series or something, and that thing is pretty nifty (aside from the $$$).... I beat mine up and submerge it, get it dirty, smash it on things etc and it keeps going.... my buddies was so expensive he doesnt even like to take it in the pool.... i guess there are pros and cons to everything in life lol

195 average HR over 90 minutes is an insane statistic. In any case, congratulations on your finish and acceptance in the worlds toughest mudder challenge. BTW, I use a Suunto T6 HR monitor watch - it's an awesome watch but as always, there are a couple of downsides (no GPS, does not record HR under water).

yea 195 hr with a stupid wetsuit shirt on, up a mountain, is not a good time lol.

oh well, live and learn...by mile 7 i was recovered lol.... thank you for the congrats - I will not be doing the worlds mudder challenge, although a couple of my buddies might. Running for 24 hours in the wet cold new jersey winter weather does not sound appealing to me. Ill quit while im ahead, and do a tough mudder in WI next year.

How do you like the Suunto? i want a suunto core, but the thing is so big!

on an unrelated note, i just registered for the warrior dash thats being held Sept 18 in twin lakes WI. if anyone is going let me know - i will be there with at least one other friend.

I like it. Along with the HR strap, I have the bike and foot pods, which detect and transmit my speed/pace to the watch and they automatically switch from one to the other when I transition from the swim to bike and from the bike to the run. The watch also measure/records altitude, air temperature, calculates V02 Max, and so on and so forth. You can then upload the data to Suunto's Movescount site for post exercise analysis. For example, here's a link to a recent sprint triathlon I did.

http://www.movescount.com/moves/move2454523

I'll probably make the switch to Garmin once they release a replacement for the ridiculously ugly and huge 310xt watch.
