Vent Thread v2.0
Si is in the shop this morning... has gone through 2 quarts of oil in the first 2800 miles. Should have known... paperwork says it was delivered with 9 miles on the odo, I took delivery with 180 and the exhaust tip was black. After a little more research, I've learned that it was the first '12 Si delivered to the dealer with the new drivetrain package... must have been a test mule for obnoxious employees with heavy right feet. F*ck me.
ruh roh.
Hopefully they'll get it sorted for you.
I have a vent too. The new engine for the land rover hasn't shipped to my mechanic yet, they are waiting on parts from their supplier
It looks like I'll be getting it back closer to the end of the month instead of early next week.

Yikes, doesn't sound like you're having much fun there either. Good luck with that one -- hopefully the snow is at least a month out.
Got a call back from Honda, they actually acknowledged the problem (more than I had expected), changed the oil gratis and are performing an 'oil consumption test' wherein I am required to drive normally and check the oil weekly, if it gets low again to bring it in and under no circumstances add more oil. Seems like a lot of goddamn work... isn't the reason you spend extra money on new cars so you don't have to deal with this sh!t?
This exact same thing happened to my pops with a '91 Prelude Si (from the same dealer), after six months of dicking around they replaced his motor. Did their best to get out of it though -- went so far as accusing him of removing oil to get the motor replaced. Hope they've improved their attitude a little bit, otherwise Mr. Hobbes is going to get a f*cking earful from me.

Insurance rates make no sense.
I insured the GTI without asking what the rate was...just had a bit of sticker shock. For reference, this is what's paid on our other vehicles, all with the same coverage:
2002 Audi A4 3.0 = 725/yr
2006 Honda S2000 = 750/yr
1991 Acura Legend = 800/yr
2013 VW GTI = 1400/yr
WTF
Can't GTI drivers keep their cars on the road?
