snow shoes are on. blizzaks up front for control, Firestone Winter forces in the back for traction as per recommendation by a guy I know who does tires.

snow is beautiful crystalline ice, turning the world into a pure white sparkling wonderland. (until the snow plows and salt turn it into a greyish brown sludge...) And snow works so well as a practical sound insulator, it gets a lot quieter, giving the sense of serenity.

Sand does not:
Pile wonderfully on trees to make it look like great heaps of whipped cream
Have a wonderful crystalline shape (silica actually does, as quartz is 100% silica, but it does not have the fantastic design qualities that fine ice crystals do)
Compact into speedy projectiles that can entertain dozens of people without harming the target (provided you didn't pack it TOO hard...)
Atomize the top layer adding a very slick lubrication between two surfaces so as to allow a quick descent down a hill or slope on one platform or two
Completely disappear when you leave the area or go inside
Naturally form very wonderful formations when in a denser medium

Snow does not:
Get into places on your body that you never knew existed, and continue to come out for days... lets face it, sand gets everywhere, including places you don't want.
Eat away at your car's paint like a sand blaster
Stick around well past it's welcome
Become rife with dead fish and seagull poop... ok, Ill give this one a pass for special conditions required.

Neither help traction on most vehicles.

I'm planning on being there for my 4th straight year. Possibly as an instructor this time.
