I've been following it. I've only gotten to watch about 5 games. Stupid 8 hour time zone difference.

I'm trying to find a bar that opens at 10 am so I can watch both of tomorrow's games. I really think FIFA is stupid to have 2 matches at the same time.

Yea that got me a little frustrated too, but then again FIFA did insititute the need to wear shoes during a match, so they cant be that dumb right?

I would have never guessed that you would watched the world cup, you got me man, pleasent surprise. US played an amazing match the other day, lets hope they're prepared for tommorrow.

Oh and there is a bar here in chicago, well theres a lot but my fav. Is the GINGER ALE HOUSE on ashland. Amazing atmosphere open for every game no matter what time it starts.

Too bad it's there. Soccer is about as popular here as hockey is, which is to say not very. A total lack of any sort of international community (mexico excluded) probably has a role in that.

I grew up playing soccer, until I was in high school. I love the game, I was just never committed to being conditioned enough to play it at a high level.

Yea you nailed that one, thats just it, there are more people that don't care to give it a chance here. Because its not on sportscenter day in day out. Similar to F1. I've been ordering the English Premiership matches for years now. The shear elation of when your team scores a goal, is more intense then a Bears touchdown.............. oh wait i take that back thats a tie.

About as common, too.

Americans demand constant scoring. The only way soccer and hockey will ever gain a foothold here is if the scoring is frequent. The average joe who doesn't understand the sports just don't see the positives of a 1-0 game, even though the action is constant (unlike football) and scoring really means something (unlike basketball).

Baseball, I'm still not sure about... I guess people understand that a 1-0 game in baseball is because both pitchers are throwing great, but don't understand that a 0-0 game in soccer is because the defense and keeper are playing great.. ?

F1... I don't know. There's too much elitism about it. I'm sorry, but I've been to F1 races, watch F1 races on TV, and compared to NASCAR the product just isn't as appealing. I know a lot of NASCAR's qualities (parity/frequent passing) are artificial (i.e. due to frequent/excessive full course cautions), but F1 could learn a lot from NASCAR if they really want an appealing product.

It still blows my mind that every time a revised rulebook comes out for F1, it further increases the role aerodynamic grip (which makes passing hard) plays. The one tire rule last year was way beyond stupid. FIA, Bernie, and Max just don't get it some times. Bernie is too worried about lining his pockets to really improve the sport (much like George Hulman is/was with IRL).
