Custom Case

The Honda S2000 was available in a number of exterior colors during its lifespan, and some of those have earned a rabid following in the years since. However, that doesn't stop some from painting their cars in other colors, sometimes hues sourced from a completely different manufacturer. That's the case with this gorgeous S2000 owned by Jonathan Monteith and recently featured by MotorTrend.

Love at First Sight

Monteith fell in love with the S2000 the minute he laid eyes on it, but he was still in high school and short on funds back then. A year later, he was financially able to buy a Honda roadster, and he wasted no time picking up a mostly stock AP1. At first, Monteith began buying parts randomly with no plan, but that soon changed.

Cohesive Plan

"I took a step back and started thinking about how I wanted it to look in the end," Monteith said. "I wanted to build something that stood out yet wasn't too over the top." Thus, he called up Art of Attack and placed a large parts order at once, though the imported goods were going to take months to arrive. At that time, he decided that he was going to repaint the car in Porsche's Grey Black hue.

Unique Hue

"In my opinion, Porsche has some of the best and most diverse colors in the car world," Jonathan explains. "I drew inspiration from a 2010 GT3 RS I saw at a local cars and coffee." The color is certainly visually striking, as it appears black in the shade but shows off some gray when the light hits it just right.

Fortified Drivetrain

Under the hood, the car's original four-banger has been fortified with Supertech valvetrain components, a Ballade Sports manifold, a J's Racing 70RR free-flowing exhaust, a classic Mugen intake system, Origin Fab pie-cut, titanium intake arm, ARC header shield, ASM shock tower bar, and a variety of goods from Chasing Js including the coil pack cover, cooling panel, bolts, and more.

Looks that Kill

Looks-wise, Monteith nailed it with the right combination of parts including a Voltex Race front bumper, carbon splitter, carbon canards, EVS Tuning fenders, a vented ASM hood, Voltex side skirts, MRacing side mirrors, an ASM I.S. bumper, Voltex diffuser,K1 Lab duckbill, 1700mm Type 7.5 GT wing, and a carbon-fiber hardtop. The car rolls on this set of Formula Silver TE37s or one of the many other wheel combinations Monteith has sitting in his garage.

Enjoy the Process

Years of saving and planning followed by careful execution landed Monteith one of the nicest builds we've seen in a while. Thus, it shouldn't come as a surprise that he isn't planning anything drastic for the future. "The only future plans I have with the car is a supercharger kit to add more reliable power, but other than that, I want to drive her to events and enjoy what I put my blood, sweat, tears (and quite of a lot of money, lol) into."
