Okay.. a DIY may be a bit too much

An original Honda part# list might come in handy.
IMO.
All parts that need changing according to the Honda Service Manual

For MY00(-03?)
91124-PCY-004 (conical bearing 35x68x19)
91123-PCY-004 (conical bearing 41x68x20)
91005-PCY-003 (ball bearing 31x55x13)
91201-PCY-003 (end seal)
91301-PCY-003 (o-ring behind locking nut sec reduction)
90203-PCY-000 (locking nut sec reduction shaft)
90202-PCY-000 (locking nut sec gear counter shaft - lefthand thread)

Could this be cross-checked with the original recall if possible?
And what about the updated pump part#?

The item highlighted in red???? Why would you need to replace this??

if I'm correct, is this item #12 in the honda illustration??

Someone needs to clarify this...

This is what I just all ordered:

90203-PCY-000 NUT, HEX. (27MM)
91005-PCY-003 BEARING, BALL (31X55X13)
91123-PCY-004 BEARING, TAPER (41X68X20)
91124-PCY-004 BEARING, TAPER (35X68X19)
91201-PCY-003 OIL SEAL (40X60X9)
91301-PCY-003 O-RING (28X2.6)
91302-PCY-003 RING, BACK-UP (28MM)

HELP!!!!!!?

Because.. IIRC.. you start taking the trans apart from the back.
First the sec reduction.
Then, if you want to remove the transmission casing - and leave prim and countershaft in the clutch casing - you need to remove that 29mm lefthand thread nut.
I didn't do this myself but did read the manual and bought parts that they specify to change.

Hint: buy a Helms.

I just got the call from the dealer, I have the car in for this same problem. Does $490 for replacing the upper shaft and both bearings sound reasonable?

It actually sounds too cheap to me... I would have guessed more than that for the labor.

Yes you need a press. A local shop may do it for you for a little $.

Good Luck.

I have just over 60,000 since the swap.

Good thread thanks.
Explains the noise from my box too.

How easy is it to get the secondary housing off? I expect it's as simple as draining oil, removing covers and pulling it off the main housing? I can then get the bearings replaced.

Thanks
Simon

Is this that whining sound that I might be confused with my pulleys... It's 100% rev dependant, and it sounds like a spaceship (higher-lower pitch upon accel and decel).. If it is, I'm gonna get to the bottom of it!!!

Sorry for semi-reviving the thread too btw..

Peace.
