Pulleys would make noise when the car isn't rolling too though?

It's not bad if you're handy. Make sure you measure the turning force on the output flange. My front bearing shim was too thick for the new bearings and I had to sand it down. You will need a press and a clam shell type bearing separator to remove and install the bearings. If you're going to change your clutch soon, do it then, but it can be done on the car.

Has anyone sourced the bearings from anywhere besides Honda? I'm thinking a bearing supply shop could get them without the dealer mark up. SpitfireS you didn't happen to write down the part numbers off the bearings themselves did you?

You mean SKF/NTN/NSK part #'s?
Not written down but I still have all the old bearings, I will have a look.

In the order I picked them out of the carboard box:

Id-Od-Wth = part#

31-55-13 = NTN 6006 CS25-1 - CY
28-68-18 = NSK HR63/28NX
34-56-20 = NTN CU 8E NKI 34x56x20
28-64-18 = NTN SF06A49 - CY
28-82-22 = NTN SF06A48 - CY - TM
41-68-20 = KOYO HC LM300849 YRI - LFT
35-68-20 = KOYO HC ST3568 - LFT
30-64-20 = NTN CU 8E NKI 30x64x20

Some of the letters, like CY or CU are IIRC tolerance specs, I mean the tolerances may be different / less than "normal".
With tolerances I mean the Id or OD size but also the play between the inner and outer race.

The only one that had a familiar part# to me was the 31-55-13 with 6006, that is a pretty common size, the CS25-1-CY makes it a special I guess.

I think bearing manufacturers make special tolerance series for the automotive industry.
Those special series may not be commercailly available.
So IMO you do not want to use a common 6006 bearing in the transmission.

I think that with an 02-03 oil pump a my00 or my01 wouldn't have this problem again. They were recalled in europe for being inadequate..
Do you have a recall number (or anything)?
What was changed, just the rotor set?

According to San Leandro Honda online parts catalog there are 3 different sets of rotors available, no matter what model year you select:
21168-PCY-305
21169-PCY-305
21170-PCY-305

What is the updated set?

Some input please.

I know this is old, but I just did some research myself since I seem to have fallen victim to these bearings.

What I was just told after having my local dealer research these three rotor set parts for the internal oil pump was that the #21168 is discontinued.

Part #21170-PCY-305 is the most recent and is for all models 00-09.

I'll be adding this to my part order list in a min along with the other stuff plus revised honda clutch buzzless disk, pilot bearing, and main input shaft bearing.

ugh...this sucks.

How do I diagnose if the sound is coming from this issue or my diff which I recently found three little ears on the magnet cap used to drain the oil!?

Up in the garage lift, rev the car in first gear and listen from underneath? This safe?
