Default Powdercoating track wheels

I've searched some and didn't find any definitive answers. I know we all have seen the OEM wheels that have been powdercoated and cracked from track use, with R-comps i believe.

Thinking about powdercoating my RPF1's. They are currently being street driven and will be tracked and autox on sticky street tires in the future (star spec, nt05, re11 etc)

Thoughts...

Thanks

I track on my powder coated wheels with street tires with no problems, but you are probably better off painting them just to be safe.

So long as their forged, you're fine. James Sofronas runs HRE comps (PC'd) on his WC GT3 without any issues. Kenesis powdercoats their wheels as well...

I came across ploney's post in wheels and tires and thought I might share the link.

I had never really looked into powdercoating, myself. Certainly didn't realize the kind of potential compromise it could entail.

Thought I'd share the info, as I could have seen myself picking up a used set of wheels and not realizing they were PC'd and not painted.

I apologize if this is really old news, but at least two autocross / track guys had the same experience so I figured it was worth the repost.

I try to do it too. My local powdercoated shop won't do the wheel.
