There have been some threads pertaining to the weight of the S2000, but there seems to be no consensus on what the car actually weighs. I've heard figures from 2650 to the often-mentioned 2809 Honda claims just on this site.

I just had my S2000 weighed. It weighed in at 2760 lbs with two bars on the fuel guage. Immediately following that, I filled up the tank. I fit 10.8 gallons in the tank, which means at the time of weighing the car, I had 2.4 gallons in the tank. Gas weighs about 6 lbs per gallon, so I subtracted 14 lbs from what the scale said. I had some things in the trunk...duffle bag, car cover, my car-wash kit...they add up to maybe 5 lbs?? I won't subtract that from the official weight, because I would just be guessing. Check the results below...my stock S2000 weighs less than what Honda says it does, with those things in the trunk.

I thought it would be beneficial to start a thread where everyone who has had their car weighed could post their results. Please only post if you have had your car weighed...no guesstimates. Please also list your mods and whatever weight reduction you may have performed. I'll begin:

Model Year: 2002

Mods: None

Weight Removal: None

Weight: 2746 lbs

If I recall, someone here said that a gallon of gas weighs about 8 lbs. So, that would take it up to 2775 lbs.

A fully-prepped stock-class autocross S2000 weighs just over 2600lbs. with:
spare tire, tools, foam tool holder, and floor mats removed
lightweight exhaust
JDM BBS wheels/Hoosier tires
just enough gas in the tank

Here's a link where car and corner weights were discussed: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=44306

My car weighed 2830 lbs. The tool kit was removed, but not the spare tire and it had a nearly full tank of gas. The other items that may matter include a Da'Lan hitch mounted on the back, and two small amps in the area above the gas tank. So if we correct for the gas (-70 lbs) and take out the spare (-10 lbs), my car would have weighed 2750lbs - pretty close to Station's result.

I have to disagree with this statement just a bit... every thread I've ever seen about the weight of the car pretty much draws the same conclusion when you account for the various configurations people have weighted the car in... and that conclusion is that an S2000 that rolls off the showroom floor, with a full tank of gas, weighs pretty much what Honda has said it does at 2809.

I've also weighed my own car several times in several different configurations and every time I've found that my own data matches this.

I just dont think there's really any controversy here.

cheers,
jason keeney

I still would like people to post what their car weighs. The site's own library says 2650 with a half-tank of gas. but I just haven't seen that yet in a stock S2000.
