Cooling down your seats
I hope this is the best place to put this. I was thinking the modification forum, but that seems to dwell on exterior or engine/drivetrain mods. This forum seemed to fit best.
Has anyone come across or built any seat coolers? It's pretty damned hot in Texas right now, and would love to cool the seats. I have seen some air coolers, but they seem to be worthless. (do not cool your back, the hoses the air run through get kinked, etc)
I was thinking of putting tubes back and forth under the leather, and running some fluid through them. Then a small pump, and a "radiator" attached to the footwell's ac duct (the one that will burn or freeze your legs) Cool the fluid with the vent, and pump it through the tubes to the seat. The pump and radiator would be under the dash. The fluid would be something like you would use to watercool a PC.
Anyone see anything bad with this setup?
I got the idea from this company, but like to tinker/build so I thought I would try it myelf. http://www.activeforever.com/p-1641-cool-o...at-cushion.aspx
They would also heat the seats with the heater in winter time.
This would be on an 06, any tips on the srs system, and not breaking it when removing the seats? I have the Helm manual, so I can look up what I need, but sometimes it does not tell you 100% what the best way to do something is. (It does not tell you everyone's tricks)

WOW, I'm really happy you brought this issue up! It gets so unbearably sweaty in the rear regions of myself on those sunny hot days. I think half of the issue is the leather. and the second reason is because, for me at least, I'm tightly packed into the drivers seat with not much space at all for my sides or back to get air.
My personal thought was to install some kind of back fan, but that probably sounds like an absurd idea. lol. can't wait to see waht you come up with. lol

get rid of your leather seats and you will see a dramatic difference. I drive in unbearable heat in my sparcos and my posterior is humid but not moist lol. The material allows your cheeks and back to breathe.

Aren't the seats part of the srs, and if you remove them your srs will not work, or not work correctly? This is my DD, I don't want to have a cool backside yet lose safety.
