Default TPS % increases as car warms up? Not anymore!

Sorry if this is a n00b EMS question, I googled but couldn't find an answer to my question.

Before starting my car, the throttle (TPS) reads 2% at 0. As the car warms up this climbs until TPS reads 4.5% at 0 when fully warm. Is this normal due to expansion of the throttle body or do I have some kind of other problem, thanks.

J.

This is odd. You're TPS should always read 0% unless you're on the throttle.

EDIT Actually, is your car DBW?

No, the car is not DBW, it's a 2001. The TPS will never read 0% with the 30-6052 because when you run the throttle config wizard, it will set min TPS as 2% and max TPS as 98%, but regardless whatever the minimum is configured as this will rise slightly as the car warms up.

I'm not familiar with AEM yet. With Hondata S300, I know you can set the min/max %, in case your TPS is off or you ditched the IACV and run with the throttle slightly open for idle. Can you do this with AEM or does it do it by itself?

Thanks for the reply. I had thought of this but was worried by setting it that low when warm, that when cold it would go < 0% and throw a TPS error. I will set it up like this anyway and see how I go.

I tried setting the TPS to 0.5% when warm, but did end up with with TPS error on cold start. This meant that the AEM ceased idle feedback and my cold start idle was terrible.

I have reset 0 throttle to 0.5% when cold, which means when the car is fully warm 0 throttle will read between 2.5% to 3%. I set idle feedback to be active at < 4% so it covers all situations with a small buffer and have found this to work well.

Hi Guys, a question if I may: -

I just got an OBD2 reader and noticed that when I apply full throttle, the TPS is only reading 89%. How can this be remedied? I assume this means that it is not giving me 100% power when I floor it? A poster above alluded that these values could be adjusted but do I need some software to do this or a trip to Honda? It seems odd that a WOT would give less than 100%(?)

Edit: Could it be that the ECU is seeing 100% but the OBD2 is just being stupid? When warm with the throttle shut it's giving a 4.5% throttle value.

Thanks...

Although your tps may not indicate 100% your MAP sensor will show ~0 vacuum when the throttle plate is wide open. The fuel and ignition are based on map load

The tps is used to detect decel fuel cut, fuel surge for acceleration, idle conditions mainly

I recently received my EMS back from AEM after repair for a different sensor voltage issue (voltages slowly increasing over a period of months). After return, the behavior described in this thread is no longer present.

I don't know if it's due to the repair, or due to the newest firmware (01v24), but I would suggest anyone who has the 30-6052 with 01v24 and the behavior described in this thread (TPS% increases by a few percent as car warms up) has a problem and should send their unit back to AEM for repair. You will save yourself numerous costs in the long term.
