Why STR?
He's very fast. First year driver, winning points in C-stck over a guy that been doing it over 10 years. He won STR sunday by .146, It sucked to get beat in my car but I had my girlfriend with me and she wanted to ride along and I messed up a couple runs. O well.
I don't currently run STR, but to me this is by far the most tempting part about the class. Understood that for national-level events you still need to bring more than one set of tires (and in fact, more sets of tires than you do in Stock), but for local events, arriving and driving would be nice.
Other,
-I'm tired of cleaning off OPR and like the simplicity and durability of street tires.
-The excitement is currently in STR, more regular competition, more National competition. It has been a little lonely in B-Stock and many events.
-I feel its harder to drive the STR S2000 and creates more of a challenge.
-I want to stick with the S2000 rather than move to something else. Its fun modding it and the mods are simple enough fir me to handle.
-I felt the S2000 was a little bit weak on course. With the allowed mods, the car feels like a completely different animal.
-The point is to have fun, I am having lots of fun in STR! Can't wait for Jadrice to join us next year!

you drive to the course and get right to it without changing a thing and at the end of the day you drive the car right back home.
I like the idea of racing a real sports car. I don't like towing a tire trailer or changing tires on a 120 degree parking lot.
Plus the mods for the class are close to what I would do for a daily driven street car. But, I have a 65 Lotus Elan and a 74 Lotus Europa Special in my garage. So I feel a little differently about what I think of as a practical daily driver.

I picked STR for 3 reasons....
1) pretty easy transition for a basic STR build from BS.
2) Maybe the top dollar shocks make a BS car better, but I thought it was kinda "boat-like" on the setup I had. The difference in slaloming an STR car vs an BS car is exactly what I wanted. The stiffer suspension does wonders.
3) I prefer a sporty car I can tinker with, even if just for daily driving. I was actually bored with no car projects in BS. I like to wrench.
#2 is a double edge sword. The car feels amazing to me on course... but has become stiff enough that I find myself taking the truck to work instead now. :/ It is daily drivable, but the soft truck suspension feels sooo nice on our crap roads!

Funny to see everybody jumping in to STR. I bought the S2000 specifically to run in stock class because I was getting tired of street prepared. My street prepared car got to the point that I took the plates off it and it became a trailered car. I found dealing with a trailer, tow vehicle, and a car that I wouldn't drive on the street was becoming a pain. The S2000 was refreshing. With the tire trailer, race jack, and impact wrench, I got the tire change down to less than 10 minutes.
I run STR first off because I wanted an S2000 and it is an accessible, popular class that the car fits into. I would have ran B-stock for at least a season but I really wanted the "arrive and drive" convenience of street tires.
Key points would be;
-A popular and growing field of drivers, always some competition even in small, local events.
-Allows sensible mods and tuning without being excessive (not a money pit to compete)
-I have ran R comps in another car for a few years now and they are a PITA.
-Will give me an opportunity to progress through a new car, new mods and new challenges.
-From what I can tell from the competition, driving in this class will make me a better driver.

I jumped into STR after running in ASP against Vettes and then BSP against the STIEvo's. The update/backdate rule killed my car in SP but the real kicker in BSP was going to events, having it be cold or worse, raining, and knowing that there was no chance to compete right from the get go. I felt like all the cars in STR all deal with those issues similarly as we are all short wheelbase rwd cars.
