I went the other way with tire purchases. I found that A/X eats tires so I bought a second set of wheels and mounted tires that were good for A/X and mounted street friendly tires on my street wheels.

When I lived up north (NJ) and tires lasted longer due to less abrasive roads, I would run a set of Star Specs starting in March and they would last till the end of the season in November, with 2-3 events a month and almost 2k miles a month. then I had a second set of wheels with tires for winter...

When I got down here (FL) and RS3 started getting eaten up every 4 months with 2 autox's a month, 1200 miles a month, easier driving, and rougher pavement. I decided to take the wheels I used for snow and put some Conti DW's on for DD use. I switch to my RS3's the day before and switch back the day after an Autox
