Default Sound Ordnance B-8PT install

I was tired of the lack of bottom end punch the stereo offered in my 04 and decided to do something about it. I had a couple of prerequisites, one was that I did not want to massacre whatever little trunk room I actually had and secondly I did not want to add weight in the tail end of the car, having previously put a 12 in a decent sized box in a Mustang's trunk and promptly removing it due it adding a pendulum nature to the handling left me with no desire to recreate this in the s2000.

But enough about Mustangs, the subwoofer I chose was the Sound Ordnance B-8PT due to it's dimensions and decent reviews. I had planned to install it under the passengers seat but alas I was foiled by the exhaust hump's protrusion and since I did not want to rob the passenger of leg room I decided on the drivers side. Now here you have two options, it does fit under the seat, but it does require you to scoot it pretty far back, I'm 5'8" and could reach the pedals but the position did feel a bit off to me, taller people this location will work fine for you. I decided to check mounting it behind the seat and managed to find the driving position a bit more comfortable, I would of wished to scoot the seat a bit further back but I was more comfortable this way than too far back, also I did not want the sub firing directly at my jewels (female S2K driver though might like this location, just don't blame me for arriving at locations cross eyed).

Now the review, the subwoofer does appear to be a quality piece, the supplied wiring kit was also not of bad quality, I had my doubts since it was Scosche, yet it was satisfactory, I purchased the subwoofer from Crutchfield for $160 and the wiring came included.

I have not had a chance to break it in but it does sound good so far, I'm running an Alpine CDE-123 with a Alpine power pack adding some juice to the stock components. The sub compliments the components without overpowering them, so far so good, I'll report in a couple of weeks as to how it's changed, if at all.

Now pics because I know any thread is useless without them.

Scosche actually does have some excellent wiring. Just as Honda produces (Produced) cars such as the S2K and NSX, Scosche offers good wiring for the audio enthusiast.

I am running a very similar setup in my tacoma (power pack and b-8pt sub, just a different h/u). I am very happy with the sound from both the power pack and the sub. If it sounds good in a double cab truck it should sound great in the small interior of the S

I ended turning it on its side and now lean back a bit more, seating position is good for my size, I'm 5'8". As I said earlier the sub will fit under but you will have to scoot the seat all the way back.

So after two weeks my verdict is that the sub rounds out the sound very nicely, I added some Boston components to complement the sub and add a bit of highs and I must say that I am happy with the set up. The components add highs and mids and the sub takes core of some of the deeper stuff, just don't expect to beat down the block, this is for hearing your music at a comfortable volume when you are cruising and don't want to hear the car.

Thanks for the review Akiba. I wasn't aware of these self-powered slim subs, but they certainly look appealing. For the price, it seems like an option I might try out. I would love to get a footwell sub, but the price is considerably more than this setup (understandably so).

Is it safe to say that this sub doesn't really provide too much punch, but rather just provides some more "depth" for the components? I have a pair of amped polk components in the doors, and would love to hear some lower freqs that the components can't hit. Thanks.

Yeah Teg, that's exactly what it does, it provides depth to the sound, it really sets off even the stock components, and at about ten pounds it doesn't add much weight to the car.
