clutch engagement point confusion
I really hate the play in my clutch.
Do you guys think its ok for me to adjust the clutch rod clockwise towards the master cylinder all the way.
It is very stiff clutch, but no play what so ever.
Good?
or
No Good?
am I harming the car?

Yes its ok, but dont adjust it so far that it starts pushing on the master cylinder piston.
Just take the freeplay out of the rod, thats it.
Yes its good. You'll be harming the car if you DONT do it
but it has to be right.

You can snug up that rod, as long as you dont put enough pressure on the CMC piston to move it.
In theory, you can actually have the pushrod push in the piston a 64th of an inch and be fine. The fluid return passage is open, and there is no clutch engagement at all.
But for reasons to far to explain, zero freeplay is the best setting. It is the safest to convey via the internet, and is all your s2k needs for full clutch disengagement and proper shifting.

So to adjust to zero free play I would loosen the 12MM lock nut then twist the connecting rod until finger tight pulling. By doing so, the pedal is pulled towards the MC but not tight enough to actually depress the rod into the MC.

Thanks everyone and especially Billman250.
s2000ellier - you want to go clockwise on the rod until it doesnt shake anymore. I did that and wow, 2nd gear grind is almost gone(When I say grind I mean not smooth).
