East Midlands Sunday Drive 29/07/2012
Nicola and Ian are planning a drive around our home villages and country roads. The start point will be Blyth services, Bawtry Road, Blyth, nr Worksop, Notts, S81 8HG at junction 34 off the A1(M), grid ref SK625882. Meet time 10am for a 10.30am departure. We are intending to stop for a pub luch along the way. Approximate finish time will be 4pm near the start point. If any one is wanting to come the day before there are hotels nearby in Blyth and Retford. If you need help finding accommodation let us know.
Please let us know if you can come and join us for a great drive on some lovely country roads.
The morning route is planned and will take approximatley 2 hours driving a distance of 65 miles. Details of the run will be given on the morning in the form of printed instructions and a map. There will be several stops on route to allow everyone to stay together. Lunch will be in the village of Blyth at the Angel Inn. I have spoken to the owner and he is happy to set aside reserved parking for us. I will have to let him know how many vehicles will be attending and how many for lunch by the 28-07-12. We should be stopping for lunch around 12.30 pm and stopping for about 1 hour.
The afternoon run is in progress and will take in a drive through clumber park (hopefully a photo opportunity) and finishing at Thaymers ice cream parlour and cafe for refreshments. This is a very short distance from the A1(M) and approximatley 10 miles south of the meeting point.
The afternoon run is now set. It is aproximatley a 70 mile run and will take about 2 hours.
The end post code is DN22 8DB. The arrival time at thaymers will be around 4pm, and they are open till 5.30pm.
If anyone only wishes to do just the morning or afternoon run that is fine with us, just let us know.
